Mapping the glass ceiling: results from the EU regional gender equality monitor
Mapping the glass ceiling: results from the EU regional gender equality monitor
Technical briefing, 1 March 2022, 12:30-13:30 (CET)
This briefing will provide information on regional aspects of gender equality looking into the questions in which EU regions women are achieving the most and in which ones they face the largest disadvantage. Answers to these questions and many more can be found in the 2021 edition of the EU regional gender equality monitor of the European Commission’s Regional and Urban Policy DG (DG REGIO). Following the methodology developed by the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre and DG REGIO in 2019, two composite indicators, the Female Achievement Index and the Female Disadvantage Index, are used to capture aspects of gender equality in 235 regions (NUTS 2 level). They confirm significant disparities both, between and within the member states of the EU.
A presentation will be followed by a questions-and-answers session. Interpretation will be available from/into English, French and German.
Speaker: Lewis Djikstra, Head of Economic Analysis, European Commission, Regional and Urban Policy DG
Moderator: Jaimie Just, Council of European Municipalities and Regions
